This position works with our saw filing team performing saw filing activities for our state-of the-art lumber manufacturing facility in Holden, LA. The successful candidate must have at least one year of expertise in safely filing and maintaining band saws and/or circle saws, machine alignment, maintaining saw filing equipment, and preventive maintenance procedures including the ability to inspect equipment for signs of wear/damage and recognize unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED is required
• Must be willing to work night shift.
• Must be willing to perform weekend work when required
• Experience in safe work practices related to saw filing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Applicants must have experience sharpening/benching Bandsaws. Roundsaws is a plus.
• Have experience with filing shop equipment calibration and maintenance
• Candidate must have knowledge of swaging and shaping bandsaws.
• Be a Positive Team player in a busy environment.
• Have basic understanding of planned / preventive maintenance process
• Journey filing experience with a minimum of one year in a sawmill environment.
• Understand internal quality control and machine alignment procedures
• Knowledgeable of and willing to follow all mill safety processes
• Have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively team with others while implementing process changes in a rapid pace work environment
• Consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to safety values
• Produce quality work product and capacity to adapt to and learn new technology
• Basic computer skills
