Summary:
The Construction Engineer Apprenticeship program is designed to provide on-the-job training and increase knowledge and performance in regards to Construction.
Other information:
1. Previous Experience Required:
No previous experience required, but a general knowledge of principles in general commercial construction framing and finishing and use of construction tools and equipment preferred.
2. Specialized or Technical Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, certificate of completion from a technical or trade school in construction required. General knowledge in commercial construction required. Position requires considerable knowledge of all tools and how to operate them to do the following types of work: carpentry, metal, ceiling, floors, repairing of doors and assorted hardware.
3. Manual or Physical Skill Required:
Requires considerable hand-eye coordination. Must be able to properly operate electronic and mechanical devices.
4. Physical Effort Required:
Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders, intermittent stooping, bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment, steady muscular exertion, demanding considerable strength ability to lift 100 lbs.

Responsibilities:
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Assist the Construction Engineer with the construction and renovation process for all the properties owned and operated by North Oaks Health System.
2. Follow departmental policy and directions required for safe work performance.
3. Study and familiarize themselves with the plans and specifications for the foundation, structural, and architectural components of the structures that comprise NOHS.
4. Build new walls made of metal studs and gypsum board.
2. Keeps supply of materials on job site.
3. Installation of suspended ceiling tile.
4. Installation of vinyl floor tile.
5. Build and/or install millwork.
6. General knowledge of plastic laminate work (patch repair or new).
7. Build, patch, repair or replace any type of wooden item (furniture, cabinets, shelves, counter tops, etc.)
8. Assist fellow employees in any type of maintenance or repairs needed.
9. Maintains and helps clean the shop area and tools.
10. Observes all safety regulations and practices.
11. Performs additional duties as required, as necessary and as directed.
12. Cooperates and works with fellow employees.
13. Participate in education and training programs.
14. Follows North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
