Position: Direct Care Staff FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

NeuLife Rehabilitation (NLR) provides post-acute rehabilitation and residential services for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Spinal Cord Injuries, and Neurological Disorders.

Summary

The Direct Care Staff (DCS) is responsible for providing care to clients with neurological injuries, impairments, functional limitations, and/or disabilities, following the established care plan with all aspects of their daily living in both residential and community settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care needs in accordance with the care plan and qualifications.
  • Completes health checks, documentation, and communicates in an effective and timely manner to program leadership (ex. Program director, manager).
  • Contributes to the development of care plans for clients.
  • Oversee and participate in any prescribed rehabilitation exercises.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members and leadership.
  • Assist clients with light housekeeping, laundry and linen change.
  • Assist clients with bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, lifting and transferring.
  • Provide transportation to clients as required including appointments, shopping, community outings, etc.
  • Follow all medication procedures as established in the care plan, ensuring proper dispensing and dosages.
  • Assist with reporting, charting and other administrative/clerical tasks.
  • Oversee any required rehabilitation exercises.
  • Assist in maintaining all necessary supplies for client needs, i.e. grooming supplies, household cleaning supplies, and items needed for staff job duties.
  • Run errands as needed (grocery shopping, pharmacy, etc.).

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team.
  • Complete all required trainings & attend monthly staff meetings
  • Ensure health and safety of the clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Qualifications:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with favorable driving record. CPR/First Aid Certification.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six months to one year of experience in direct care, caregiving, medial assisting and/or CNA experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • TALKING: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly.
  • AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average conversations and detect the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
  • REPETITIVE MOTION: The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and climb stairs for extended periods of time. The employee is regularly required to use hands to treat clients, operate a computer and write.
  • FINGER DEXTERITY: The employee is regularly required to use fingers to handle objects and operate a computer.
  • AVERAGE VISION: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • PHYSICAL STRENGTH: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Both indoor and outdoor working environments to include driving. May be exposed to temperature extremes, pathogens, and chemicals/solvents.
