Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Centrifugal Chiller Foreman to lead and supervise field operations related to the service, overhaul, retrofit, and commissioning of large-capacity centrifugal chillers. This leadership role requires deep technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to direct crews in delivering high-quality work following safety, technical, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise field teams on centrifugal chiller service and overhaul projects.
  • Coordinate jobsite logistics, equipment, materials, safety protocols, and personnel assignments.
  • Direct and participate in major tasks such as:
    • Compressor teardown and rebuild
    • Installation of VFDs and control systems
    • Oil and refrigerant system diagnostics
    • Start-up and commissioning
  • Review project scopes, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure correct execution.
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, and project managers to ensure clear communication and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety meetings; ensure full compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Mentor junior technicians and ensure workmanship meets or exceeds OEM and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, time sheets, and job documentation.
  • Provide technical input and feedback on system performance, repairs, and upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience with centrifugal chillers from OEMs such as Trane, York, Carrier, or Daikin.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in chiller or HVAC field service.
  • Expertise in chiller disassembly, compressor overhaul, refrigerant systems, controls, and diagnostics.
  • Proficient with micrometers, dial indicators, refrigerant analyzers, and control panels (e.g., Tracer, Optiview).
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, EPA refrigerant regulations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
  • Capable of working extended hours or weekends during critical outages or overhaul projects.
