Description:

Southeastern Louisiana University's Human Resources Office invites applications for the position of Human Resources Specialist in the Benefits and Training/Development Section. This position is responsible for Benefits Section duties associated with Retirement, Health Insurance, 403B Plans, 457 Plans, Training Administration, Fee Waivers, Flexible Benefit Plans, Payroll Processing, ACA, ERP System updates, and New Employee Orientation. This position will serve as a lead worker over the HR Analyst and Graduate Assistant/Student Worker in this section.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $23.65

EXAM AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Six years of human resources experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR

An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

In order to receive credit, your certification must be current (i.e., issued within the last three years). If you have been certified and your certification expires, you must apply for and be re-certified before you can get credit again. NOTE REGARDING HUMAN RESOURCES EXPERIENCE

Human resources experience is that experience gained in an office whose sole responsibility is the administration of a comprehensive personnel program including many if not all of the following programs: recruitment, selection and placement; training; equal employment opportunity; disciplinary and grievance proceedings; classification and wage; payroll; and employee relations OR experience gained in an office whose sole responsibility is the administration of one aspect of a comprehensive personnel program, such as training, payroll, or equal employment opportunity.
  • Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/hours will require a transcript for verification
  • Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
