Position Purpose:

The Loss Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in safeguarding the company's assets by preventing financial losses due to theft and fraud. This position also emphasizes compliance with safety and environmental programs across designated stores. Utilizing various tools, the specialist aims to minimize loss, which includes identifying theft incidents, analyzing CCTV footage, and monitoring physical security measures. Additional responsibilities include creating thorough case reports, preserving evidence, liaising with law enforcement, and testifying in court when necessary. The specialist is expected to report hazardous conditions and execute tasks in a way that maintains safety for themselves, fellow associates, vendors, and customers. Upholding integrity and addressing asset protection concerns efficiently while remaining aligned with store objectives is essential.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  • Identify incidents of external and internal theft and fraud, detain and interview suspects in accordance with local laws and company policies, while minimizing injury risks during apprehensions.

  • Review CCTV footage, audit Electronic Article Surveillance, and assess exception reports to identify associates engaged in dishonest activities on company property; take appropriate action against theft and fraud.

  • Compile detailed investigation reports promptly and preserve relevant evidence, including CCTV footage. Monitor any criminal prosecutions, appear in court as needed, and professionally represent the company.

  • Oversee the store's physical security, actively drive safety program compliance, and validate adherence to environmental standards set by the company.

  • Educate, mentor, and train associates on operational processes and compliance with store safety standards.

Nature and Scope:

This position reports to the Asset Protection Manager or Store Manager in cases where there is no Asset Protection Manager. The role does not include direct reports and involves frequent interaction outside the immediate team. It requires a thoughtful approach to problem-solving based on diverse procedures and considerations.

Environmental Job Requirements:

The work environment is generally comfortable but includes occasional exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes that may cause discomfort or potential health risks.

Travel:

This position may require overnight travel, accounting for less than 10% of the time.
