Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Retail Area Supervisor plays a vital role in Store Leadership, overseeing specific areas of the store while ensuring smooth operations when serving as the Manager on Duty. In this dynamic role, you will manage store openings and closings, supervise Associates, and foster a welcoming shopping environment. You will be responsible for merchandise presentation and upholding cleanliness throughout the store, while executing and supervising Company operational processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors and maintaining vigilance on the sales floor to create a secure shopping experience.
  • Address or report unsafe conditions promptly to ensure a safe environment.
  • Oversee building security, entrance/exit control, and the proper functioning of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) devices.
  • Ensure clear, clutter-free emergency exits.
  • Focus on customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency protocols.
  • Conduct scheduled fire alarm tests and respond to after-hours alarms as necessary.

Customer Service:

  • Show respect to all customers, Associates, and leaders.
  • Exhibit courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism consistently.
  • Utilize Company recognition programs to celebrate Associates' achievements.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and uphold the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per Company Dress Code and ensure Associates adhere to it.
  • Keep the store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised according to standards.
  • Manage daily trash removal efficiently.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet Company standards through effective teaching, task assignment, and follow-up.
  • Assist with merchandise truck receipt as necessary.
  • Process merchandise efficiently and manage non-merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all stockrooms.
  • Facilitate delivery and placement of merchandise on the sales floor post-processing.
  • Manage back-stock security and follow Company policies.
  • Oversee merchandising of your designated department and back stock.
  • Reduce losses due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Handle floor moves and promotional signage as needed.
  • Perform re-wraps when required.

Loss Prevention:

  • Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a high Customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Ensure the Public View Monitor (PVM) system is well-maintained.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections as needed.
  • Maximize productivity by adhering to Company Best Practices.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure Associates adhere to Company standards at the Front End while minimizing steps and extra touches in their workflow.
  • Maintain energy and presence at the Front End to expedite Customer wait times.
  • Train and coach Associates on cash registers and Front End procedures.
  • Control break schedules for Retail Associates to ensure smooth operations.
  • Verify all equipment is functioning correctly and maintain proper supplies for the Front End.
  • Facilitate the fast processing of go backs and teach Associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise in featured areas of the store.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Manage the cleanliness and upkeep of the Fitting Rooms.
  • Audit and account for all garment tags according to Company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with go-back processes throughout the day.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager:

  • Oversee cash pulls and bank deposits to ensure compliance with Company policy.
  • Manage Front End control as needed based on policies surrounding refunds, Associate purchases, and register media.
  • Handle payroll administration including daily punch edits and scheduling compliance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Capability to utilize all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required. Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store. Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasional lifting of over 25 lbs may be required. Capability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies. Certain positions may have additional qualifications.
