Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the UT FFRDC AEGIS program in Austin, TX. This role focuses on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and enterprise networking within a secure government environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Broadcom VMware technologies, strong networking expertise, and the ability to support modernized, scalable infrastructure platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
  • Administer VMware components including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and related cloud infrastructure services.
  • Support network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting within VCF environments.
  • Integrate compute, storage, and networking resources into a cohesive cloud platform.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure mission continuity.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management across cloud and networking infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex virtualization and networking issues and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with security controls, STIG requirements, and RMF processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, storage, and application teams to support enterprise mission objectives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD IT environments.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
  • Strong knowledge of VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
  • Experience with enterprise networking concepts including VLANs, routing, switching, and software-defined networking.
  • Ability to work onsite in Austin, TX
Preferred Qualifications:
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or advanced VMware certifications.
  • Experience with NSX-T and software-defined networking architectures.
  • Familiarity with automation or scripting tools (PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience supporting cloud modernization or infrastructure transformation initiatives.

Work Environment:

This position supports the AEGIS program within a secure FFRDC environment. The selected candidate must be comfortable working onsite in Austin, TX and operating within a compliance-driven, mission-focused setting supporting national security initiatives
