The Senior Business Analyst leads cross-functional initiatives to define business requirements and design strategic solutions for global Finance & Accounting enterprise applications. It requires strong expertise in business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and effective solution design to successfully deliver complex initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic alignment across IT, business, and vendor partners by acting as a translator of business intent into clear direction, ensuring efficient execution and successful delivery of high-visibility initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and technical and vendor partners, providing expert guidance on business requirements and solution development.
  • Lead project teams in analyzing business needs, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and developing strategic solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Proactively assess integration, scalability, and downstream implications to minimize rework and delivery risk.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, ROI assessments, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a functional team lead, providing coaching and mentoring while promoting business analysis best practices and standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Strategic Education, Inc.'s business operations, proactively identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for innovation and automation.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business analysis, applying this knowledge to drive continuous improvement within the organization.
Job Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as the techno-functional lead for the Revenue Transformation Initiative, driving end-to-end solution design and delivery across multiple Finance & Accounting functions.
  • Strong track record of aligning IT, business, and vendor partners by serving as a strategic translator of business intent into clear direction, enabling efficient execution and successful delivery of high-visibility initiatives.
  • Proven ability to anticipate integration, scalability, and downstream impacts to minimize rework and delivery risk.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and negotiation using communication techniques such as active listening, facilitation, and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and solutions to business stakeholders, technical and vendor partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with SaaS platforms and technologies, including integration with enterprise applications and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of business analysis concepts, tools, and techniques, including Agile methodologies, user story development, and acceptance criteria.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior Business Analyst role or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with PeopleSoft Finance and Campus Solutions; Oracle Fusion experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a techno-functional lead on complex transformation initiatives with end-to-end solution design and delivery.
  • Background in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and negotiation.
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms and integrating enterprise applications and systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and develop effective, innovative solutions.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred, or commensurate work experience.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 - 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 - 10%).
  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
  • If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
  • Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
