Quality Control Manager

2026-03-04     Roof Penetration Housing     all cities,AK
Description:

Roof Penetration Housing (RPH) is a dynamic, rapidly expanding leader in the commercial building products industry, trusted by architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners on a wide range of critical projects-from hospitals and data centers to K-12 schools. Our innovative, engineered solutions prevent roof and wall leaks and ensure storm shelters and safe rooms meet code requirements and protect occupants during severe weather events.

In 2025, RPH delivered roughly year-over-year revenue growth of nearly 2x, with momentum continuing to build heading into 2026. We're experiencing rapid expansion across both our New Jersey and Texas locations, and we're excited to grow our powerhouse team as we continue setting new benchmarks for performance, safety, and success in commercial construction.

To keep up with our growth, we are seeking a Quality Control Manager to ensure product and field-install quality as we scale. This role oversees incoming/final inspections, onsite install inspections, field documentation, nonconformance/CAPA, field repairs oversight, and third-party testing coordination.

About the Role

This role is a fulltime, salaried role that directly reports to the Director of Engineering. This role will be hybrid (3-5 days in office) where day-to-day work will occur in the New Jersey office location.

This role will require up to 25% travel (company-paid) to support site inspections and quality issue resolution.

About You

You think like a quality owner and systems builder. You're energized by creating clear standards, tightening processes, and preventing issues before they reach the customer. You're detail-oriented and data-driven, but practical, you know when to escalate, when to stop the line, and when to implement a contained fix while working the root cause. You communicate clearly across teams, document thoroughly, and hold a high bar for workmanship, compliance, and accountability. You take initiative, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and bring order and consistency as the organization scales.

Essential Functions

Quality Management System and Governance:

  • Own and continuously improve the site Quality Management System (QMS): inspection plans, control plans, traceability, change control, document control, training/qualification, and internal audit cadence.
  • Establish measurable quality KPIs (DPPM, first-pass yield, scrap/rework, corrective action cycle time, customer complaint closure time, audit findings).
  • Ensure inspection readiness for customer, third-party, and internal audits; maintain objective evidence for product quality and conformance.
Product Conformance, Codes, and Performance Verification
  • Ensure QC controls support advertised compliance/performance expectations for building-envelope solutions, including:
  • VAULT®: air barrier material permeance expectations (e.g., ASTM E2178) and assembly verification support (e.g., ASTM E2357) as referenced for IECC air leakage compliance.
  • AAMA 501 water/air performance references used in product positioning.
  • CYCLONE®: third-party testing alignment to ICC 500 (2014) and FEMA P-361 requirements for extreme-wind safe room/storm shelter penetrations and missile impact criteria.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and external labs on test plans, witness testing as needed, manage corrective actions from test outcomes, and maintain test records for submittals.
Incoming, In-Process, and Final Quality Control
  • Own incoming inspection of critical materials and components (examples based on product lines):
  • Aluminum/stainless hardware and assemblies used in VAULT® and Exit Seal applications.
  • Carbon steel / schedule 40 steel pipe and industrial coatings used in CYCLONE® products.
  • Elastomeric gasket materials used to create weather-tight seals; verify material certification/lot traceability and incoming acceptance criteria.
Implement in-process controls for fabrication and assembly:
  • Dimensional inspection of housings/curbs/lids, hole patterns, flange interfaces, and mating surfaces.
  • Weld quality controls (fit-up, WPS/WPQ adherence if used, visual acceptance criteria) and post-weld dimensional verification.
  • Coating/finish controls (surface prep verification, powder coat/industrial coating thickness/adhesion/cure checks, appearance standards).
  • Assembly verification (fastener torque, gasket installation, seal compression, lid fit, latching/interface integrity).
  • Final inspection sign-off prior to shipment, including packaging verification to prevent transit damage and preserve finish.
Weather-Tightness and Field Performance Risk Reduction
  • Build a QC strategy around the principal failure mode in this product category, water intrusion/air leakage at penetrations, using layered controls: critical-to-quality characteristics, leak-risk checklists, and containment triggers.
  • Partner with Engineering/Technical Services on installation-driven feedback loops (e.g., recurring field issues) and translate lessons learned into improved inspection criteria and work instructions.
  • Support warranty quality by ensuring products ship with correct components (e.g., Exit Seals used as required for system performance/warranty positioning).
Nonconformance, Corrective Action, and Supplier Quality
  • Lead nonconformance management: MRB dispositions, containment, rework/repair validation, and scrap controls.
  • Drive root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (8D, 5-Why, fishbone), verifying effectiveness and preventing recurrence.
  • Establish supplier quality expectations (incoming defect targets, supplier CAPA, audits as needed), particularly for metals, coatings, insulation components, and gasket materials.
People Leadership and Operational Partnership
  • Lead and develop QC inspectors/technicians; define training matrices and qualification requirements for inspection and measurement tasks.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer Support to balance throughput and quality, with clear escalation protocols when risk is detected.
Core Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Construction Materials, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in a QC/QA leadership role within building products, roofing/envelope systems, metal fabrication, or engineered assemblies.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing inspection plans/control plans, driving CAPA, and managing nonconforming material processes.
  • Working knowledge of common building-envelope performance frameworks and test standards relevant to penetration protection solutions (e.g., ASTM/AAMA/ICC/FEMA concepts as applicable).
  • Strong technical writing and documentation discipline (inspection records, procedures, training materials, audit responses).
Details
  • The starting compensation range for this position is $95,000 - 130,000 USD and will be determined based upon a candidate's experience and location.
  • The typical working hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm EST
  • This job position is exempt to overtime as determined by the FLSA standards.
  • Travel is expected for this position up to 25% which is anticipated to be overnight in several domestic locations. International travel may be required in the future depending on business needs.
Working Conditions
  • Manufacturing/fabrication environment; PPE required.
  • Occasional support outside standard hours for critical shipments, test events, or corrective action containment.
