About This Role

The Category Manager is responsible for procurement support for the Patient Services organization and the Commercial Print and Fulfillment Services Category. The category covers a variety of patient support programs critical to treatment, education and securing access to Biogen medications. In addition to Patient Services, the role covers Print and fulfillment services for the Commercial organization that include Print, fulfillment, sample program and patient letters. The individual will be responsible for stakeholder management, procurement category management, sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management. This is an individual contributor role that reports to the Director, Global Procurement Commercial Category Leader.

This is a Hybrid based role (requires partial work in office) in Research Triangle Park, NC or may be based in Cambridge, MA

What You'll Do

  • Establish strong relationships with the Patient Services and commercial operations teams, understand their business requirements, priorities, and strategic direction to facilitate early and consistent engagement with procurement
  • Work with the Patient Services and the commercial operations organizations to develop and execute best in class category strategies to address outlined short- and long-term business objectives
  • Leverage spend data analytics, external benchmarking, and cost modeling to identify high value opportunities that deliver sustainable value and operational efficiencies to the business
  • Lead sourcing activities consistent with the category strategy objectives. This includes developing sourcing strategies and executing sourcing events through efficient use of appropriate buying channels and resources
  • Ensure supplier contracts are current and reflect the most up to date Biogen terms and conditions.
  • Serve as the supplier relationship manager for key suppliers.
  • Responsible for supplier management activities, ensuring the appropriate level of oversight, direction and development based on the defined criteria
  • Responsible for identifying supplier risk areas and developing and executing risk mitigation actions


Who You Are:

You are a procurement professional with experience in category management, negotiation, and possess excellent stakeholder management skills. You thrive working in close partnership with your business stakeholders to develop a pipeline of cost and continuous improvement projects. You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts to develop process improvements and evolve category strategies to best in class to meet critical business requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years of procurement experience including strategic sourcing, negotiations and category management
  • Experienced negotiator with working knowledge of terms and conditions, redlining, and working with Legal team to mitigate risk and ensure best value terms for the company
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with ability to build effective relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational and leadership skills
  • Ability to deal with change and ambiguity effectively
  • Strong project management skills with ability to plan tasks, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong analytical skills which provide insights and formulate recommendations using data driven solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience. Can present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced, and challenging environment
  • Process and cost improvement skills
  • C.P.M./CPSM certification desirable
Education

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $103,000.00-$138,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
