As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef Supervisor to join our culinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen staff to ensure a high standard of culinary excellence.
  • Develop and implement creative and well-balanced menus that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of Christwood's residents.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of meals, ensuring they meet quality and nutritional standards.
  • Monitor portion control and maintain consistency in taste, texture, and appearance.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with procurement to maintain a well-stocked kitchen.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication.
  • Collaborate with the dining services team to gather resident feedback and incorporate preferences into menu planning.
  • Address resident concerns or special dietary requirements with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Assist in budget management, cost control, and financial reporting related to the kitchen operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and kitchen expenses.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a senior living community or similar environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Current SERV Safe Food Manager Certification.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse kitchen team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in the administration of food services systems.
  • Ability to create diverse and appealing menus while accommodating dietary restrictions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing resident preferences and seasonal ingredients.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Familiarity with regulations related to food handling and sanitation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with residents, staff, and families with empathy and professionalism.
