The CrewCoordinator is responsible for overseeing the crewing of Company vessels, monitoring personnel performance records and maintaining payroll records.

The duties of the Crew Coordinator shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Ensures all crew have proper and up to date licensing as required for that position. Sends out required reminder notices.
  • Ensures that each assigned vessel meets all COI or Hornbeck requirements at all times.
  • Provides input and expertise to Operations Managers on crew assignments, promotions and/or other crew related issues.
  • Maintains accurate bi-weekly schedule reports for assigned vessels
  • Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of all payrolls for assigned vessels
  • Coordinates with Captains and crewmembers to assure each crew change is handled efficiently.
  • Arranges crew change related travel, hotels, etc. as necessary.
  • Participates in New Hire Orientation, Paperwork preparation.
  • Initiates system transactions for assignment, job and pay changes.
  • Provides 24-hour call support to operations during assigned weekends.
  • Coordinates all aspects of 3rd party contract-vessel employees.
  • Provides employee relations liaison with management for assigned crew members.
  • Personally visit assigned vessels regularly.
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience: Two (2) or more years of industry, logistics or customer service experience is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to get along well with others
  • Personal computer functional skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications

Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.

Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20

Hearing: Functional, correctable to normal to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.

Speech: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.

Mobility: Unencumbered by physical limitations to perform the following activities: Sedentary work in an office environment that includes frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, gross and fine motor dexterity for typing and reasonable lifting of office products up to 10 lbs. Ability to embark, traverse and disembark Company vessels while dockside compliant to all Company safety standards.

Hours of Work

Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm and may be adjusted with approval by the department supervisor. Some overtime, work related travel and weekend work may be required, subject to company operational requirements. Regular and reliable attendance is required. This position requires availability to participate in on-call rotation, including some holidays.
