Research Technician I

Dr. Naoto Hirano's laboratory is seeking a part-time Research Technician I to support research projects in protein engineering and immunology.

Duties:

  • Recombinant protein production, including protein expression, purification, and preparation for downstream experiments inclusive of SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and protein quantification;
  • Molecular biology, including PCR, DNA cloning, and plasmid preparation; and
  • Maintenance of accurate experimental records and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health or science related discipline, required
  • At minimum, 6 months of relevant hands-on experience in cell culture, biochemistry, or related laboratory techniques, required
  • Training in molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunology, preferably with laboratory components an asset
  • Relevant laboratory experience related to molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and standard immunological techniques, specifically those related to general recombinant protein expression workflows
  • Ability to follow established experimental protocols, laboratory procedures, and to maintain complete experimental records; and
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary research team
