Security Officer

Responsible for providing security for residents, employees and visitors of Christwood. Protects campus buildings, assets and premises as assigned.

Performance Requirements:

1. Patrols facility buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors conduct of visitors on premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, as needed. Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
2. Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
3. Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as required. May secure resident valuables or lost and found articles; maintains log of items received.
4. Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.
5. Maintains established campus policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
6. Maintains records, reports, files as required.
7. Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems in assigned areas.
8. Responds to calls for assistance in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner.
9. Attends all meetings and in-services, as required.
10. Responds to ambulances and first responders on campus immediately.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Must be able to make decisions quickly and in accordance with established protocol.
• Must have or be willing to be trained in first responder and first aid training.
• Two years' experience in security preferred.

Working Environment & Physical Requirements:

Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time. May be exposed to elements (heat, cold, rain, snow). Ability to push, pull and lift in excess of 50 lbs. Ability to walk 90% of the workday. Ability to stoop and stretch occasionally. Must observe universal precautions.
